Configure who can start new topics

You can restrict who can start new topics in a channel. For example, you can set up a channel with just a handful of topics everyone is expected to use.

  1. Click on the gear () icon in the upper right corner of the web or desktop app.
  2. Select Channel settings.
  3. Click All in the upper left.
  4. Select a channel.
  5. Select the General tab on the right.
  6. Click Advanced configuration to view advanced configuration options.
  7. Under Messaging permissions, configure Who can start new topics.
  8. Click Save changes.
